 Computer Network

Definition:

The  interconnected group of computer which helps in the transfer of data/information through transmission media and computer technologies is known as computer network.

Data comunication:

The transferring of digital data or information among computers through computer network is known as data communication.sending and recieving emails,IRC and transferring files etc are data communication.

Telecommunication:
It is the exchange of information over significant distances by electronic means like telephones,radio,TV,computers,mobile phones etc.

Simplex transmission mode:

Communication which takes place in only one direction (i.e. transmission of data).Radios and televisions are simplex.

In half duplex transmission mode:

Data can be transmitted in both directions, but in only one direction at a time. Walkie talkie is half duplex.

Full Duplex:

 The device which can transmits data in both the directions at a time.The transmission of data through telephone,mobile, and computer is full duplex.

communication medium:

It is a path through which data,information and files transfers from one computer to another computer in the form of electromagnetic waves ie electric signals.

Two types of communication medium

1.Guided transmission media

2.Unguided transmission media

Guided Transmission media

    It transmits data on a specific path.coaxial cable,twisted pair cable and fiber optics are guided transmission media.

Unguided Transmission media

    It transmit data from one computer to another using radio wabve,micro wave,infrared and laser.

Bandwidth

The amount of data transmitted per second through communication channel is known as bandwidth.It is measured in bit per second or higher unit of bit.

Wired Network

The network formed by using cables is known as wired network.

Wireless Network
The network formed by using unguided transmission media is known as wireless network.
